Have you wanted to wear red lipstick, but thought you couldn’t? Does the idea of it intimidate you? Or, have you tried wearing red lipstick before and thought it looked awful on you?
Chances are, you just haven’t found the right color of red for your skin tone. Red lips can look great on anyone. It’s simply a matter of understanding your skin tone and realizing that certain reds look better on certain tones.
I say you should wear whatever red you think looks best on you, but the following is a guide to help you find a shade of red that best compliments the tone of your skin. I’ve also included links to shades corresponding with the descriptions in both high end and drugstore brands
Light skin tones: Porcelain, fair, ivory. These skin tones look best with coral reds and reds with hints of orange. How pretty is the orange-red color on Emma Stone? Ah!
Medium skin tones: Beige, olive, tan, bronzed. Most variety of reds pair gorgeously with medium skin tones! (you lucky babes!) But which reds look especially sexy? True red, wine colored, and pink based reds compliment a bronzed glow especially well. I love the wine color on Vanessa Hudgens!
Dark skin tones: Warm based reds looks best on dark skin tones. Think fig, wine, dark cherry. True reds also look great, like what Brandy is wearing. Gabrielle Union is rocking the hell out of that dark cherry shade!
Which color of red do you wear? <3
Summertime is near and BBQ and cool drinks are calling your name! I’m not big on mixed drinks, but this one won my heart. The Bloody Mary is deemed “the world’s most complex cocktail” but it is so quick and easy to make. A handful of the ingredients are things you probably have on hand.
The Bloody Mary has a reputation of being a “hangover cure” but dun dun dun! Science has proven that drinking more alcohol with a hangover only numbs the pain. Rest, plenty of water, and electrolyte replacement is the only “cure” for a hangover. But if drinking one makes you feel like your hangover is being cured, then I say whatever floats your boat!
Gather these ingredients.. You’re gonna put your feet up and enjoy one of these.
Makes 1 quart.
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste 2 cups water 1 (12 ounce) can v-8 vegetable juice 1/3 cup distilled white vinegar 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 2 teaspoons Lawry's Seasoned Salt 1 1/4 teaspoons black pepper 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce Ice Optional for serving: Celery, peperoncinis, green olives
Directions: Combine all ingredients in a pitcher and mix well. You can stir in your favorite vodka into the pitcher, but I prefer to just take a pint glass (16 oz) and add in 1/4 cup vodka and 3/4 cup of the mix. Serve over ice, of course!
If you make one of these bad boys, let me know what you think
I recently decided to splurge on a pair of Dr. Martens 1460 boots and I’m sooo glad that I did! The styling possibilities are pretty much endless with a classic boot like the 1460’s and the quality of Dr. Martens is unbeatable.
I decided to purchase my boots online (not a big surprise, I’m an online shopper to the core) and I did some thorough research regarding sizing and a reputable online seller before I made a final decision. I researched sizing because I read some reviews that the sizing is tricky. And because DrMartens.com did not sell the color I wanted, I did my research on who I could trust that did.
I’m a pretty true size 9 in shoes so I decided to weigh out the tricky sizing reviews I read and go for my regular size 9. I’m glad I did because they fit perfectly! If you normally wear a whole size in shoes and are struggling with which size may be best for you, I suggest going with your regular size. Dr. Martens are only sold in whole sizes, no half sizes are available (hence the trickiness in sizing for people) so if you are a true half size in shoes, I suggest sizing down. If anything, my boots may have a little extra room in them, so sizing down if you’re a half size may be a good idea for you.
Any color you choose with these boots is a win in my opinion, but as soon as I saw Cherry Red Arcadia, my heart was set on them. Because DrMartens.com did not have Cherry Red Arcadia available for sale, I decided to buy from Amazon.com. They have a wide array of colors available and sell them for retail price or cheaper. They also offer free shipping. Sold! Here’s a link if you wanna go with Amazon:
